The Armchair Generals at NYT ~

Two articles. Same war.

The Road Home NYT

It is time for the United States to leave Iraq, without any more delay than the Pentagon needs to organize an orderly exit…Apparently it’s not enough for the left to tell those of us who live in the US how to think and act, but now they’re taking on the world.

Baqubah Update Michael Yon

Today marks “D +16” of Operation “Arrowhead Ripper,” the Battle for Baqubah. Arrowhead Ripper kicked off on 19 June 07…Media coverage went from a near monopoly (Michael Gordon from New York Times and me) to a nearly capsized boat as journalists flooded in from other parts of Iraq to see the fight. They managed to miss most of it. Today, I’m told, there are now only 3 journalists remaining, including one writer (me)…

Yet the NYT can demand that the troops leave Iraq.

NYT~

Despite President Bush’s repeated claims, Al Qaeda had no significant foothold in Iraq before the invasion, which gave it new base camps, new recruits and new prestige…

The big news on the streets today is that the people of Baqubah are generally ecstatic, although many hold in reserve a serious concern that we will abandon them again. For many Iraqis, we have morphed from being invaders to occupiers to members of a tribe. I call it the “al Ameriki tribe,” or “tribe America…”

NYT~

The United States military cannot solve the problem. Congress and the White House must lead an international attempt at a negotiated outcome. To start, Washington must turn to the United Nations, which Mr. Bush spurned and ridiculed as a preface to war…

Michael Yon~

At first, he said, they would only target Shia, but over time the new al Qaeda directed attacks against Sunni, and then anyone who thought differently. The official reported that on a couple of occasions in Baqubah, al Qaeda invited to lunch families they wanted to convert to their way of thinking. In each instance, the family had a boy, he said, who was about 11 years old. As LT David Wallach interpreted the man’s words, I saw Wallach go blank and silent. He stopped interpreting for a moment. I asked Wallach, “What did he say?” Wallach said that at these luncheons, the families were sat down to eat. And then their boy was brought in with his mouth stuffed. The boy had been baked. Al Qaeda served the boy to his family…

Negotiations and the UN…They can write a harshly worded letter to al Qaeda and ask them very firmly to stop baking children.

Yep! that’ll do it!

Then we can all sit in a frickin’ circle and sing Kumbiyah…

Well, the NYT is affiliated with the German socialist media outlet ‘Der Spiegel’ and the NYT-‘Opinion’ is just the common socialist (anti-American, anti-American Way of Life, anti-capitalist) propaganda. They have fear that America is successful in the war on terrorism (and socialism), because that would also mark the beginning of the end of socialism. Anyway, those brain dead morons can NOT be taken seriously. 😀

By the way, the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in an interview to a German newspaper (questioned about Iraq), ‘We must appreciate this contribution of the United States and the associated sacrifice.’ What can I say? The readers of that newspaper (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) were indignant. Well, those useful idiots just don’t get it. America never lost a war! 😀

    “America never lost a war!”

So true – it was Congress and the useful idiots that made us pull out of Vietnam and gave birth to the Killing Fields. Talk about a state of denial!! I guess if they think that if they don’t see a threat even tho it’s right in front of them, it isn’t happening.
It is hard to take that kind of thinking seriously, Tom. *giggle*

    You say it, Yankeemom! 😀
