Pendleton 8 Update…

Kit has the lowdown on CPL Trent Thomas’s trial:

CPL Trent Thomas, one of the Marines accused of murder in the Pendleton 8 case, was acquitted of murder charges yesterday at the end of a court-martial that was well over a year in coming.

The panel found him guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, which I still find to be a complete travesty and miscarriage of justice. Then again, what do I know? I’ve only got the documents proving the agents in this case are lying, incompetent fools. But never mind the facts, let’s move on to the politics of the whole thing.

Thomas was the first to be convicted in an actual court-martial. All but two of the other seven members of the ill-fated squad have been quietly pled out and put away. During Thomas’ proceedings, some of them were brought out and paraded as pawns for the prosecution, told how to talk and what to say. When their testimony didn’t match well enough with the rules of the government’s game, the Marines were brought to the back of the room and threatened with their plea bargains if they didn’t adhere to the plan. The idea that this can be done to our fighting men still, every day, fills me with a rage I cannot describe.

Stay tuned…much more on this case coming.

Convicted Marine asks jury for leniency

Listen to Gen. Mattis here. Really.

“We’re the good guys. Not the perfect guys, but the good guys.”

“And while the US Media, the western media may portray this as ‘a bomb went off today’. A bomb didn’t go off.. it wasn’t an act of God. Intentional murder of innocent people eventually sours anybody.”

The travesty continues ~

There’s a lot of info here that will show the true face of the NCIS. It isn’t pretty.

July 2007

[Attorney Melissa Epstein] said the man was not Awad but Hashem Gowad, cousin of Saleh Gowad and also a suspected insurgent. Epstein said the military waited until 11 days ago to give her team some documents suggesting the identification problem.

This development was reported in a single newspaper, the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Where the hell is the media on this story?

Unfortunately, the media has a habit of reporting only the parts of a story that fit in with their agenda and that tends to be on the side of the “alleged victims”, especially if they’re “victims” of our military.

Will Murtha Apologize?
“An investigating officer has recommended dismissing murder charges against a Marine accused in the slayings of three Iraqi men in a squad action that killed 24 civilians in Haditha, according to a report released Tuesday,” the Associated Press reports:

The government’s theory that Lance Cpl. Justin L. Sharratt had executed the three men was “incredible” and relied on contradictory statements by Iraqis, Lt. Col. Paul Ware said in the report, released by Sharratt’s defense attorneys.

“To believe the government version of facts is to disregard clear and convincing evidence to the contrary, and sets a dangerous precedent that, in my opinion, may encourage others to bear false witness against Marines as a tactic to erode public support of the Marine Corps and mission in Iraq,” Ware wrote.

This was the incident in which Rep. John Murtha accused the Marines of killing Iraqis “in cold blood”–a charge, as we noted in May 2006, that was self-contradictory. In November ScrippsNews reported that Cpl. Sharratt’s parents were “enraged” with Murtha, who is their congressman. Perhaps it’s time for him to apologize.

Murtha & Code Pink

As well he should, along with all the other Democrats and “tired” Republicans who are doing their damndest to cut down our military.

Can we redeploy the majority in the Congress??!! It’s definitely a quagmire and they certainly haven’t met their “benchmarks”. (if you only click on one link in this post, make sure it’s this one!)

And now we have the Fallujah Marines:

As reported by Tony Perry in the Los Angeles Times, Josh White in the Washington Post, and others, this website (DefendOurMarines.com) was the first to break the story behind the investigation into an incident arising from combat in Fallujah in 2004.

Read about their (the NCIS) methods in The NCIS Exposed: Documents in the Petty Officer Daniel King case.

I seriously suggest there be an investigation into the NCIS, instead of wasting our tax dollars and the politicians time on all the “Get Bush” witch hunts now going on up on The Hill. (and it’s said that McCarthyism is dead…ha!)
