I was surfing through the news channels last night, as I do on occasion to see the latest spin, and there was Nancy being interviewed by Wolfie!
You have to watch this ~ it’s quite entertaining. Nancy was blinking and licking her lips in double time!
Breaking news! it’s not just Bush’s War anymore! Hold the phone ~ it’s the Republicans’ War too! So it’s not just Bush’s fault, it’s the Reps fault too! Evil Warmongers!
So, the Dhimmis plan for “stability in Iraq” is to redeploy most of the troops! And training the Iraqi troops can be done out of country…ummm, Okinawa, maybe?
“We have a plan!”
It’s just a really, really lousy plan.
Yep, taking out our troops and leaving the Iraqis to take on the insurgents and terrorists being equipped with weapons and resources by Iran, will bring instant stability and all those warm and fuzzy feelings the Dhimmis are so fond of. Of course, a lot of Iraqis will miss this joyous event, because they will be dead. But Murtha has declared that that part isn’t important. So, sleep well, my precious comrades!
And this is absurd, but so not surprising:
People For the American Way was founded in 1981 by Norman Lear, Barbara Jordan, Father Theodore Hesburgh, and Andrew Heiskell. The following Statement of Purpose was adopted by the founders and other civic, religious, and business leaders who comprised the initial Board of Directors.
In times of hardship, in times of crises, societies throughout history have experienced wrenching dislocations in their fundamental values and beliefs…. We are alarmed that some of the current voices of stridency and division may replace those of reason and unity. If these voices continue unchallenged, the results will be predictable: a rise in (this is my favorite) “demonology” and hostility, a breakdown in community and social spirit, a deterioration of free and open dialogue, and the temptation to grasp at simplistic solutions for complex problems.
People For the American Way was established to address these matters. Our purpose is to meet the challenges of discord and fragmentation with an affirmation of “the American Way.” By this, we mean pluralism, individuality, freedom of thought, expression and religion, a sense of community, and tolerance and compassion for others. (But only if you all believe what we believe.) People For the American Way will reach out to all Americans and affirm that in our society, the individual still matters; (as long as they are not white males) that there is reason to believe in the future – not to despair of it – and that we must strengthen the common cords that connect us as humans and citizens.
The long term agenda of People For the American Way is broad. It includes reducing social tension and polarizations, encouraging community participation, fostering understanding among different segments of our society, and increasing the level and quality of public dialogue. As an educational institution, we shall communicate with the American people through printed materials, radio, television, public lectures and discussions.
We will gather information, analyze it, and distribute our findings to the public in a manner that provides for full and fair exposition on the issues. (After we take out all the facts that go against what we want to be true.) Our highest purpose is to nurture a national climate that encourages and enhances the human spirit rather than one which divides people into hostile camps.
By educating the American people and raising their level of understanding about the basic tenets by which our society is sustained, People For the American Way will fulfill its mission. (my emphasis)
Re-education camps! Send your kids every summer! We have many activities to brainwash your child so he/she becomes a productive little socialist!! You can get your child a Brown Shirt for just $39.99. We highly recommend that you do ~ we want your child to feel he/she belongs to the collective.
Notice how the words that I highlighted are so “emotionally” charged. (I heard this emotion speak in my little corner of CA all the time, about everything!! Everything was an emotional issue. Got to be quite exhausting, I can tell you.) Makes you just want to applaud their little socialist plan right from the heart, doesn’t it?
No…? Then you must be one of those evil neocons!!!!
You’re damned, y’know.
(Disclaimer ~ this is satire. Look it up if your knickers are all in a knot. I have a very hard time taking the Dhimmis seriously and I’m not even going to try anymore.)
Yes, we do have an enemy. They are murderers, liars and arrogant haters of anyone not of their thinking. And they are killing anyone who gets in their way.

The media doesn’t tell the whole story about our troops, focusing more on car bombs and trumped up accusations than on the good that is coming about in in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The media doesn’t tell the whole story about those who are bent on destroying us.
Our politicians are more concerned with votes and earmarks than with the threat against this country or the reality on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. They impune the honor of one of the finest Generals this country has and uses our tax dollars to go have a chat with the heads of terrorist countries.
The anti-mosteverything folks who scream out loudest for the rights of detainees hardly whisper about little girls getting cut up, beaten and sold in marriage.
And too many in this country could care less.
Thank God for the ones who do.
Justice Soldier is blogging again!
(I apologize for not getting over to your place sooner, JS ~)
He’s been home over a month now after a 22 month deployment. Coming home for our troops is never easy, no matter how great the welcome. I can only imagine it’s like coming out of the dark into bright sunlight ~ it’s a bit painful and you have to squint for awhile until things become clear (on many levels).
I have always admired how JS sets words to paper. (okay, I’m actually envious.) And with this post he has outdone himself.
Well, my deployment is now over, and I am home safe. I have been home almost a month now, and a lot has gone on. My return home like every soldier started with a long flight across the ocean, and into the arms of the Bangor greeters. And incredible organization of Veterans, patriots and people who just truly care about the path we have just concluded – it is really overwhelming to come through their welcome home line. Here are a few pics from their reception for us and a link to their website:
“The day we swore we would never forget, and then we did just that…”
“…The sun rose this morning on September 11th just as it did that faithful morning. This year, the world carries on about its business as if 9/11 never happened – the strong conviction to defeat evil of just a few years ago apparently no longer popular enough to matter….”“…These politicians always have the same drum beat in such speeches: “I support the troops and the evidence shows progress, BUT………” when these alleged experts elevate their voice in that “but” it strikes to the heart of the soldier – no one likes empty rhetoric….”
“…We tell the soldiers we support them but we are against what they are doing in our behalf most likely because we don’t understand the mission – yet we won’t dig to find the answers. (Soldiers hate that by the way) The answers are out there, but we won’t go find them….”
Read the rest here. And read it all. Every American should read this, so I suggest you forward it to as many folks as you can. Heck, send it to your elected critters! God knows, they could use all the edjumacating they can get!
We need voices like this. Seems we need reminders of what the hell our troops are fighting for, more and more. And who better to hear it from than a Soldier just come home from the war.
Welcome Home, JS! Thank you for writing so eloquently what so many need to hear.
I received the email from Flag Gazer yesterday that Sgt Eddie Jeffers was killed in Iraq yesterday. You may have read his exceptional essay, Hope Rides Alone.
Eddie’s father sent this to Flag Gazer:
It is with great personal sadness but joy in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that I announce the death of my son Eddie Jeffers. Eddie was killed around 7 am Iraqi time from an accidental vehicle roll-over. Although our personal loss is traumatic, we know he is in a better place. All of you have been so wonderful to my son and my family and he was so blessed and humbled by your love for him. He told me this past summer after the wonderful gift you gave his wife and him that he didn’t understand why people were so generous and kind to him. You see to Eddie, he was just doing his job and what he believed was his life mission from God.
I’ve said this often; Eddie was my hero. My dear brother in Christ Rod Martin told me that Eddie died a hero for not just the soldier he was but the person. Eddie, through his writing, touched so many people’s lives, yours and you so lovingly touched ours back.
We thank you in advance for your condolences and prayers. Please pray especially for Eddie’s wife Stephanie; as you can imagine she is devastated. Our prayer is that Eddie’s death will exalt Christ as did his life.
In lieu of any flowers we are asking all donations be given to the Fisher House in memory of Eddie; he loved that charity.
Love in Christ Jesus

“Blessed be the Lord my Strength, who teaches my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.” -Psalm 144:1 (Eddie’s favorite Bible verse)

FG will be collecting comments of condolences and support to send to the Jeffers family. Go here.
Sgt. Eddie Jeffers and so many like him are the reason I fight here at home. Why I moved out of the poisonous mentality of Santa Cruz, California to Virginia. I want my voice to sound out for the ones who can no longer speak. Who raised their right hand and said “I will.” Who went to a land so far from home with nothing but the uniform on their backs and their rifle. Who stood up and declared “This is my duty and I will fulfill it” when so many stand up for defeat.
The loss of such men and women is deafening. Their belief in a greater cause than themselves is even more deafening. If only those who would criticize and defile their honor could hear and know what shining beacons these extraordinary men and women are in a time when life is precarious for so many in this world.
Sgt Jeffers is such a beacon. Again, I am awed by the likes of him.
We are so blessed to have such beacons when the shadow of so much darkness falls on so many.
I will never forget your light, Sgt Eddie Jeffers.

Well, now you know the Senators who are truly owned by MoveOn.org. I hope you noticed the presidential candidates in the list above.
I have been angry at our politicians many times before but never to this extent and never have I been so ashamed of their actions.
I was raised with the adage “consider the source” when confronted with something said that confused, bemused or angered me. This led me to becoming really good at researching something or someone. I never take anything written or anyone at face value. I look at what’s ‘behind the curtain’ in most everything that affects me or my family ~ I hate surprises.
So with that in mind, Brat from Tanker Brothers sent me this little tidbit from the WorldNetDaily:
Muslim terrorist leaders are “thankful” for the efforts of activist and congressional candidate Cindy Sheehan, stating in a new book Sheehan’s anti-Iraq war activities and her statements against President Bush “give us hope” the U.S. will change its Mideast policies.
“You [Sheehan] give us hope and you show us that there are different Americans than those whom we know,” stated Ramadan Adassi, chief of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group in the West Bank’s Anskar Refugee Camp.
Click on the title to read the rest and find out just who these wonderful folks are who are singing her praises. Not surprising that folks such as these would be so enamored with the likes of that woman. Now, I came to the conclusion a long time ago that if it makes the terrorists happy, it’s bad for my country. (Just wish more politicians would come to the same conclusion. But then, apparently most don’t read anything but the NYT.) The woman who will not be named is making the terrorists happy. Hence, she is not good for my country. As are all the ones who stand with her.
I really need to open my email later in the morning. I did not have enough coffee yet for the likes of that…
From Newsbusters: Just so you know the truth ~
Fools Rush In
Following obviously superficial scans of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspans new book, the mainstream media fell all over themselves trying to make Bush look bad. The lead example? That Greenspan said we went to war for oil. The truth was a little different. MRC analysts reported that in the Washington Post and on the Today show Monday, Greenspan said oil was “not the administration’s motive” and in fact that his Today show interview made abundantly clear the inaccuracy of the implication that Greenspan was somehow endorsing a left-wing conspiracy theory about how George W. Bush went to war to financially benefit Dick Cheney’s oil industry friends.

WE are at war. We have an enemy that doesn’t play by the rules. Our troops know the rules and carry them out, often to their own endangerment. Too much politics and PC BS going on here.
And then there’s more from MoveOn.org:
By Susan Jones

September 20, 2007
(CNSNews.com) – MoveOn.org has released the latest ad in its controversial “betrayal series” — this one, criticizing Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and his fellow Republicans for a “betrayal of trust.”
A week after calling Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, “General Betray Us,” the liberal advocacy group is blasting Republicans for undermining U.S. troops by denying them “a reasonable time to spend with their families before returning to war.”

Dems Cast Republicans as Callous Toward US Troops
By Susan Jones
CNSNews.com Senior Editor
September 20, 2007
(CNSNews.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is accusing Republicans of ignoring the wishes of the American people — and the welfare of U.S. troops — by defeating an amendment that would have restricted U.S. troop rotations.
The Senate on Wednesday mustered only 56 votes — four votes short of the 60 votes necessary to bring up the amendment for consideration.(A similiar amendment failed by the same margin in July.)

Sen John Cornyn is reintroducing his resolution:
The now-infamous Moveon.org ad — “General Petraeus or General Betray Us” — marks a potential watershed in U.S. political discourse. A radical-left interest group has undertaken to accuse our military leadership of treason for working towards victory in the war against Islamic terrorists. The open question now is — will the majority Congressional party continue to tacitly endorse this scurrilous tactic by its most activist supporters, or will this defamation be repudiated? We are about to find out.
The ad in the New York Times defamed a highly respected, highly decorated four star General who has dedicated his life to serving our country. The assault had a specific purpose. It was designed to discredit Gen. David Petraeus in advance of a congressionally ordered report on the situation in Iraq. Gen. Petraeus, while stressing that much work remains, delivered good news about the progress we’re making in the war against Islamic terrorists and rooting out al Qaeda.
I can’t find the text for the Boxer amendment at the moment. They’re voting on it now.
I’ll post it when I find it.
Help us, Lord, help us…
In a preview of what will be in his report on Monday, General Petraeus lays out the good and the not so good in Iraq:
(h/t Intel Dump)
Of course, the Democrats and the media aren’t going to give him an inch.
Lawmakers positioning themselves for debate expected after Petraeus report
Again the Bush Derangement Syndrome is continuously rearing it’s ugly little head.
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Days before Gen. David Petraeus testifies before Congress on the progress of the troop “surge” in Iraq, the Senate’s number two Democrat is accusing the administration of manipulating information in its highly anticipated Iraq report that will be released next week.
“By carefully manipulating the statistics, the Bush-Petraeus report will try to persuade us that violence in Iraq is decreasing and thus the surge is working,” Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois said at a Washington think tank.

|Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) Speech on Iraq||||
“Anything that takes us back from where we were this spring [a firm withdrawal date] is unacceptable,” said Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), one of the founding members of the 70-plus member Out of Iraq Caucus in the House. “Bipartisanship is great … only if it puts together an orderly withdrawal of the troops.”
One group, Americans Against Escalation in Iraq, started running anti-war ads Thursday in New Mexico, Minnesota, Kentucky and Maine — all aimed at targeting the incumbent GOP senators in those states. And another, the National Security Network, backed by liberal groups such as the Center for American Progress, questioned whether the Petraeus report will be a truly accurate assessment of Iraq.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), a founder of the Out of Iraq Caucus, was critical of fellow Democrats who embrace the positive snippets of news from some corners of Iraq, saying the progress in some areas does not show the complete picture in the war zone.
“We’re always going to have a number of Democrats who will lean over backwards to believe what they hear from generals on the ground,” Waters said. “We’re prepared to do what we have to do to avoid accepting a report that does not truthfully represent the situation on the ground.”
And this just says it all on what’s really important to the Dems:
“Rather than picking up votes, by removing the deadline to get our troops out of Iraq, you have lost this Democrat’s vote,” said Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut, one of the Democratic presidential hopefuls. “It is clear that half-measures are not going to stop this president or end this war.” (emphasis mine)
(h/t to Politico)
Question their patriotism?? You bet I do!!
I don’t know. They must have a different dictionary than I do. Their actions fall under the definition of “treason” in mine.
patriot: n. One who loves, supports, and defends his country.
treason: n. The betrayal of one’s country, esp. by aiding the enemy.
(The American Heritage Dictionary; 2001 4th edition)
I so love this ~ Bin Laden takes the Democrats to task for not ending the war:
“People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there.”
What’s really frightening is just how closely the terrorists are watching our politics and actions. And people in this country have no problem with all the leaking of strategy that is going on in the media. I mean there’s this guy hiding out in a cave somewhere who has our defeatists and anti-America folks’ talking points down pat! Oh, but the Dems are not emboldening the enemy with all their surrender and retreat strategies…nope, not at all.
(graphic from Publius Pundit)
Lots to do!! I am absolutely thrilled that there are so many folks and organizations out there that are taking on the politicians, the PC police, the anti-America crowds and the selling out of this country. Because, Houston, we have a problem!!
First, the Democrats can go to Hell! Unfortunately, I do not see this happening any time soon. So in the meantime, write them, call them, fax them and let them know how you feel about their comments (ON THE FLOOR!!) about our troops and their mission. You may agree with them ~ if so, the rest of this post is going to piss you off, so you might as well just scat.

Washington, DC— As we approach the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Democratic Senators Robert Menendez and Bob Casey joined Matt Bennett of Third Way at a press conference today to discuss Democrats’ efforts to help make America more secure and how President Bush’s flawed strategy in Iraq is distracting us from targeting a resurgent Al Qaeda. Far from keeping Osama bin Laden on the run, as President Bush promised in 2001, he is building up his terrorist network and now plans to release a videotape ahead of next week’s anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Washington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement today in response to Gen. James Jones’s report:
“Gen. Jones’s report today, like all other objective assessments before it, unfortunately tells us more of the same: that the President’s strategy brings us no closer to the necessary political reconciliation and it is past time to change course in Iraq. It is discouraging that the President stubbornly claims his failed policy is working even as this latest report describe many Iraqi security forces as focused more on fostering civil war than on suppressing it.
“Democrats will continue to push for a new strategy because only by changing course can we best protect our troops and make America secure.”

“And let me be clear: the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge.
The lack of protection for these tribes from al Qaeda made it clear to these tribes, “We have to fight al Qaeda ourselves.”
“Are we placing our faith in the future of Iraq, in the hands of some warlords? Some tribal leaders who at the moment dislike al Qaeda more than they dislike us? Make no mistake about it, they’re no friends of Americans,” Schumer said. “Is this the vaunted, clarion cry for democracy in the Middle East that the President announced when he started the build-up in Iraq? Obviously not. This is a policy of last resort. This is a policy of desperation.”
“Anbar is a mirage of calm amid a desert of chaos,” Schumer later added.

I can’t begin to find the words to express my disgust with you and the backstabbing, demoralizing language you have the audacity to spout. You no longer have the right to have the words ‘US Soldier or Marine’ in your mouth!
The war in Iraq is, tragically, a very different war. A mistaken war, sold with fear and misleading and manipulated intelligence that has taken the lives of 3,760 of our troops and more than 27,000 of America’s sons and daughters maimed and wounded, with broken bodies and shattered spirits, and killed tens of thousands – maybe hundreds of thousands — of innocent Iraqi men, women and children.and
Now, despite the growing list of independent reports and military experts who say he is dead wrong, President Bush is preparing to tell the nation, once again, that his strategy in Iraq is succeeding.
We know what the Bush-Petraeus report will say: The surge is working. Be patient.
The surge is not working
The reality is: Despite heroic efforts by US troops, the Bush surge is not working.
The surge has stretched our military to the breaking point, yet violence in Iraq has increased, and political progress in Iraq has come to a standstill.
Tragically, Iraqis are failing to use the “breathing space” created with the lives of our sons and daughters to work for reconciliation and lasting security.
By carefully manipulating the statistics, the Bush-Petraeus report will try to persuade us that violence in Iraq is decreasing and thus the surge is working.
Even if the figures were right, the conclusion is wrong.

Your sleep must be racked with such doom and gloom nightmares ~ or do you spend the dark hours thinking up ways to find defeat in everything our troops do. Do you have a voodoo doll of President Bush that you gleefully stick pins in?
And if that isn’t enough to get your hackles up, there’s this:
NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!!! WRONG!! WRONG!! WRONG!!
The popular all-American comic-book military man and action figure dating back to the 1940s is undergoing a significant transformation for the Paramount Pictures-distributed “G.I. Joe” film, which begins production in February and is scheduled for release in summer 2009.
No longer will G.I. Joe be a U.S. Special Forces soldier, the “Real American Hero” who, in his glory days, single-handedly won World War II.
In the politically correct new millennium, G.I. Joe bears no resemblance to the original.
Paramount has confirmed that in the movie, the name G.I. Joe will become an acronym for “Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity” — an international, coed task force charged with defeating bad guys. It will no longer stand for government issued, as in issued by the American government. (ARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!)

You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.
Well, even though the Senators and Congressmen are on break, their tongues have not been idle. I really don’t understand how the Libs believe that bringing America to its knees will benefit the country. I’m glad that I don’t ~ then I’d be one of them….*shiver*
“With the President continuing to stay the course in Iraq, Republicans will have to decide whether they will continue to vote with him or join Democrats and the vast majority of Americans who are demanding a new direction in Iraq and refocusing America’s efforts on fighting the real threats of terrorism around the world.”
(She sure is good at telling others what they should do, isn’t she?)
“The hearings will examine the ongoing situation in Iraq and the effectiveness of the President’s war policy. Congress voted in May to require reports from the GAO, General Jones, and the White House to look at the political and military situation in Iraq. The American people expect an honest and open debate and for Congress to be given the facts.” (HA! Open and Honest, my tookus!)
“In short, the President’s strategy is costing America dearly – and leading America exactly in the wrong direction. A change of course in Iraq is long overdue. In the coming weeks, Democrats will once again press Republicans to join the fight to make that change – a change that is essential for America’s national security.”
(What frickin’ change? Oh! That’s right ~ DEFEAT!)
(Can we say broken record?)
“I am also concerned about indications that the Administration may be working hard to provide the Congress with spin rather than an objective analysis in its own assessments. The press has reported that the recent Iraq National Intelligence Estimate’s security judgments may have been softened under pressure and that that a government whistleblower may have provided a draft of the GAO report to the press out of concern that its judgments would be softened in the final version. The American people expect an honest and open debate and for Congress to be given the facts.”
(I love the faith they have in the press – heh! Again with the Honest and Open thingie…Congress gets “the facts ” and puts their hands over their ears, all the while going “LaLaLaLa” and then make up their own facts. And they wonder why their Poll numbers are the lowest in this country’s history.)
Then there’s my Virgina senators – god help us:
“There is nothing happening in Iraq that was not only predictable but also predicted. The United States must move aggressively toward a regional diplomatic solution that will stabilize the region. This will free up our forces to fight the war against terrorism and deal with long-neglected strategic challenges in other parts of the world,” said Webb.”
(Now and here I’ve been thinking all this time that our troops were fighting the war on terror….I wonder if our troops know this?)
Warner said the president and other leading Bush administration officials have repeatedly said the American commitment to Iraq was not open-ended.
“The time has come to put some meaningful teeth into those comments — to back them up with some clear, decisive action,” the senator said. Have to say I’m glad he’s retiring.
And you have to give Levin points for opening mouth, inserting foot:
I”raqi leaders have not met their own political benchmarks to share power and resources, to modify the de-Baathification laws, to schedule provincial elections, and to amend their constitution.
That’s why I hope that the Iraqi Assembly, when it reconvenes in a few weeks, will vote the Maliki government out of office and will have the wisdom to replace it with a less sectarian and a more unifying prime minister and government.”
Good going, Senator! Your non-vote of confidence is noted!
Of course, they really don’t give a poop about “the people” except to keep them down and control them with their Nanny State agenda. If the people who vote democrat suddenly rose up and believed that they could take care of themselves, the Democratic Party would mostly be out of a job. Kind of like the priests way back in the day when they kept people from learning to read and had all the church services in Latin. Nothing like being able to spoon feed your agenda (power and control) to the masses.
Maybe it was just the way I was raised – pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and if you don’t, you have no one to blame but yourself. Doesn’t mean we don’t help people. But a hand up instead of a handout goes so much farther.
“San Francisco City Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval,
who has introduced a resolution condemning
Michael Savage, is indicative of the felonious
public officials who will go to any length to silence
those who disagree with them. The public,
communities, and country they were elected to
serve be damned. Stick it to the legal citizenry
is their credo. The elected on both sides of the
aisle are guilty, especially those in the White
House and Congress.”

That about sums it up, doesn’t it?
You can read his whole column “When Silence Isn’t Golden” here.
Another column that speaks of the hypocrisy of the Democrats and Republicans is a must read:
I also watched some of the panels that were aired this past week on the war and terrorism. Oh my! So many so-called experts stuck on stupid.
The one that made my blood boil was this one:
They kept talking about the “Fear” factor by the Administration in going after Terrorism. How Civil Rights are being trampled and/or disappearing. How we, the citizens of these United States, are going to be *gasp* spied on with this new FISA arrangement. Who’s talking fear here?
And did you know that there are “Phantom Americans”? Apparently, I’m one of them…Yes, they’re the Americans (who don’t really exist,) who, (so say the elected officials, mostly Republicans, of course) buy into this Fear Mongering and believe that the security of this country is necessary and in peril, unlike the Real Americans (who do exist) who believe as this panel does.
Of course, the panel was very well picked for furthering the belief of the coming of the “facsist state” and that we’re not really in danger here, except by the fascist administration.
They’re not too happy with the Dems either. But then these people never seem happy about anything except the downfall of the US.

10:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Session 4B: Ending U.S. Sponsored Torture: A Concern for All People of Faith
The threat and reality of U.S. sponsored torture is still an issue today. The extensive news coverage by the U.S. and international media sources makes it all too clear that the grim abuses in Abu Gharib, Guantanamo Bay, and the sending of detainees to secret prisons around the world that are known to torture during interrogations, are not isolated incidents, but rather constitute policy of the U.S. government. ISNA, Christian (including evangelical), Jewish and Sikh organizations have created the National Religious Campaign Against Torture to lead the faith-based efforts to end U.S. sponsored torture. This session will describe the nature of U.S. sponsored torture, the effects of torture on its victims, the efforts of the U.S. religious community, and what you can do to help end U.S. sponsored torture [Ed — pdf reader required].
Speakers: Ingrid Mattson, Jeanne Herrick-Stare, Rev. Richard Killmer, Tom Whittle
Moderator: Mohamed Elsanousi
Well, isn’t that just duckie?! But then we’re not really fighting the real war on terror…this is all just a Bumper Sticker War.
Posted by a Phantom American.
I must say I was extremely spoiled living not far from Silicon Valley ~ great internet connection and cell towers everywhere.
Up here in the hills it is a bit of a different story. Satellite internet, which seems to be a rather sensitive beastie and no cell, unless you go way, way up the hill in back. Not something one wants to do at night as there are large critters in them thar hills. A black bear has been sighted and we heard the cry of two bobcats on more than one occasion. I figure if there are two that means babies. Do not mess with the babies.
Plus, the phone wiring in this old house seems to be in need of some TLC – I’m waiting for someone to come out – again. I called the Verizon people to relay my problem and the woman I spoke with kept saying “I can’t hear you”. “Can you hear me now?” “Not very well”. “That’s my problem!”
My fax machine almost had a nervous breakdown trying to send 3 pages last night, poor lil thing.
I hadn’t realized how much all this tech stuff had become a part of my life. I could easily be rid of everything but my computer ~ give up the internet?? Not in this lifetime, I dare say!
I spend my breaks from emptying boxes and sorting our things (so much stuff!) sitting on the porch in one of our Cracker Barrel rocking chairs (of course), watching the fish jump, the mud turtle swim around and the family of Cardinals that seem to love our Willow trees. The quiet refreshes and the green everywhere is healing after the brown tourist-laden summers of CA.
Now, going into town is a treat, as it happens just once in awhile. The busy-ness of CA is fading away. And the negativity. Having been in CA for so long with people who seem to be pissed about everything, it’s a wonder to be with folks who seem happy and have an appreciation for what they have. I’ve found that true in many of the mountain communities I’ve lived in. But what makes this even more special is the love of America most people here seem to have. They are downright patriotic. I guess that they didn’t get the memo that patriotism is out of fashion and foolish. Maybe their internet was being sensitive that day. Or more likely, they just don’t buy it.
In many meetings with Iraqi political leaders, of all different backgrounds, we told them of the deep impatience of the American people and the Congress with the lack of political progress, impressed upon them that time has run out in that regard, and told them of the urgent need to make the essential compromises. In all of our meetings we witnessed a great deal of apprehension regarding the capabilities of the current Iraqi government to shed its sectarian biases and act in a unifying manner.
We believe that the recent high-level meetings among Iraqi political leaders could be the last chance for this government to solve the Iraqi political crisis, and should it fail, we believe, the Iraqi Council of Representatives and the Iraqi people need to judge the Government of Iraq’s record and determine what actions should be taken — consistent with the Iraqi Constitution — to form a true unity government to meet those responsibilities.
Another brass ring for the enemy. All they have to do is wait for the papertiger America to lose it’s patience and retreat. Watch the children die!
In Oct 2006 Washington Post:
Echoing the sentiments of several leading Democrats on his committee, Warner said he believes the United States may have to reevaluate its approach in Iraq if the situation does not improve dramatically over the next several months.
“I assure you, in two or three months, if this thing hasn’t come to fruition and if this level of violence is not under control and this government able to function, I think it’s a responsibility of our government internally to determine: Is there a change of course that we should take?” Warner said. “And I wouldn’t take off the table any option at this time.”
Can we say ‘RINO’?? And he was off to such a good start in his earlier career.
Another interesting article from the Washington Post in Jan. 2007
Ah yes, Vietnam – so similar to… well, not Iraq. Except for the dhimmis’ defeatist part.
Shouldn’t there be a retirement age for our elected officials? What? Actively seated politicians turn 75 and lose their marbles and start talking like dhimmis?
Found on Sen. Webbs site:
NYT and complete bashing of the Administration with all the dhimmis’ talking points included with a reference to Nixon. Vietnam War again, anyone?
So, basically, supporting the troops and their mission is killing our soldiers. Not “journalism” like this or politicians playing power grabs with our troops lives and emboldening the terrorists. Oh no. Not that! *snort*
Oh, we are so in trouble with this Congress…
I really dislike politicians and “journalists” more and more each day. In conversations with people here, most often I have heard the statement that the politicians need to get out of the war and let the commanders do their job and the media is most often spoken about with contempt. Hooah!
It appears that I do not live in the dhimmi liberal (but then I repeat myself) part of VA. Thank god!
Today’s traitor is #1 on my list ~ John Murtha.
“IT IS TIME TO BRING THEM HOME.”
Why he is allowed to remain a Congressman after all the things he has said against our troops and the rampant misuse of earmarks only shows how asleep this country still is. I certainly do not mean to imply he is the only Rep. to abuse his position. Lord knows, politicians have been doing that since this category of human endeavor was created.
And let’s not forget ABSCAM
What puts him at the top of my list is the fact that he used to be a Marine. I know, “once a Marin, always a Marine.” No. This no longer applies to him, as stated by many Marines who are outraged by his actions.
First of all, here’s Murtha’s views on the Iraq War in 2006 on Meet the Press:
“…On the floor the other day, you may have heard this, one fellow says, “We’re fighting this war.” We’re not fighting this war. One percent of the American people, these young men and women are fighting this war, with heavy packs, with 70 pounds of equipment, with helmets on in 130 degrees. That’s who’s fighting this war. And they say “stay the course.” There’s no plan. You open up this plan for victory, there’s no plan there. It’s just “stay the course.” That doesn’t solve any problem…”
MR. ROVE: Congressman Murtha said, “Let’s redeploy them immediately to another country in the Middle East. Let’s get out of Iraq and go to another country.” My question is, what country would take us? What country would say after the United States cut and run from Iraq, what country in the Middle East would say, “Yeah. Paint a big target on our back and then you’ll cut and run on us.” What country would say that? What country would accept our troops?
MR. RUSSERT: What’s your response?
REP. MURTHA: There’s many countries understand the importance of stability in the Middle East. This is an international problem. We, we use 20 million barrels of oil a day. China’s the second largest user. All these countries understand you need stability for the energy supply that’s available in the Middle East. So there’s many, many countries.
MR. RUSSERT: Who?
REP. MURTHA: Kuwait’s one that will take us. Qatar, we already have bases in Qatar. So Bahrain. All those countries are willing to take the United States. Now, Saudi Arabia won’t because they wanted us out of there in the first place. So—and we don’t have to be right there. We can go to Okinawa. We, we don’t have—we can redeploy there almost instantly. So that’s not—that’s, that’s a fallacy. That, that’s just a statement to ryle up people to support a failed policy wrapped in illusion….
There’s so much more and it just keeps getting more nonsensical.
Then, there is his Jan.23, 2007 testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee:
Washington D.C. – Mr. Chairman, Senator Lugar and distinguished members of this Committee, For the past five years, the U.S. has had, on average, over 130,000 troops on the ground in Iraq. The Pentagon reports that the Iraqi Security Forces have grown in number, nearly reaching their goal of 325,000 trained and equipped. The Iraqis have a Constitution and have held national elections. These milestones have been met, yet security in Iraq continues to deteriorate. The past four years of the Iraq War have been plagued by mischaracterization based on unrealistic optimism instead of realism. Reality dictates that conditions on the ground are simply moving in the wrong direction.
There are limits to military power. There is no U.S. military solution to Iraq’s civil war. It is up to the Iraqis…
You can read the rest at the link ~ mostly it’s all Democrat talking points that have nothing to do with reality, as usual.
On February 28, 2007, he states: “General Pace can’t have it both ways.”
Washington D.C. – Rep. Murtha released the following editiorial to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in response to General Peter Pace’s testimony to the Senate Appropriations Committee:
General Peter Pace testified on Tuesday to the Senate Appropriations Committee that my plan to restore military readiness in order to meet current and future threats and to require the Pentagon to uphold its own guidelines, standards and policies would somehow be damaging on the battlefield.
General Pace himself recently issued a report to Congress that said because of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is a significant risk that our military won’t be able to quickly and fully respond to another crisis. Two weeks ago, General Peter Schoomaker said the President’s surge in combat troops will further erode the Army’s ability to respond to other incidents around the world.
General Pace also indicated that if he was forced to adhere to established DoD readiness standards, one third of units currently programmed for Iraq could not be deployed. This statement is alarming. Is General Pace saying that he is willing to accept that in the near future, one third of the total military force in Iraq will not be fully manned, fully trained or fully equipped?
General Pace is trying to shift the blame, when in fact it is this Administration’s polices that are hurting our military.
Let’s revisit history. On November 17, 2005, I said that the failed war policies of this Administration were destroying the future of our military. I said that our military is stretched thin, that the war in Iraq is resulting in significant shortfalls at our bases in the U.S., and that we must rebuild our Army. I knew then that the war policies of this Administration were unsustainable, and that our military preparedness and our strategic reserve would suffer…
There’s more at the link above ~ mostly Murtha slapping himself on the back and bashing the Administration.
On May 25, 2007, he states:
Patience has run out and I feel a change in direction happening within the chambers of Congress. While we don’t have the votes right now to change the President’s policy, I believe that come September we will have the votes from both Democrats and Republicans to change policy and direction. In September, General Petraeus will report back on the progress of the surge, and Congress will take up both the $460 billion base defense appropriations bill and the $141 billion Iraq supplemental. The surge is not producing the results that were promised. And, based on my discussions with Iraqi Government officials, I don’t believe they have the motivation to bring about the political and economic benchmarks agreed to. This is why September will be key…
The surge hadn’t even fully begun yet and Murtha knows that it is not working. I’m sure our troops putting their lives on the line for this country are so appreciative of his vote of confidence. Not.
You can see his full voting record here. An interesting site to go to regarding “the Swiftboating of Jack Murtha” is here.
Okay, so that’s his political message. Let’s see how he shows his support for our finest:
“It [Haditha, Marines] is as bad as Abu Ghraib, if not worse.”
(Murtha, May 2006)
“They [the Marines/Military] knew the day after this happened that it was not as they portrayed it. They knew that they (marines) went into the rooms, they killed the people in the taxi. There was no firing at all. And this comes from the highest authority in the Marine Corps, so there’s no question in my mind,”
(Murtha, May 2006)
“… they [Marine] killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”
(Murtha, May 17, 2006 at news conference)
“There was no firefight. There was no IED that killed these innocent people. Our troops overreacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood”
(Murtha, May 19, 2006)
“They actually went into the houses and killed women and children. And there was about twice as many as originally reported by Times.”
(Murtha, Reuters, May 19, 2006)
“Our troops over-reacted because of the pressure on them, and they killed innocent civilians in cold blood.”
(Murtha, ARAB WORLD NEWS, May 19, 2006)
“It’s [Haditha, Marines] much worse than reported in Time magazine.”
(Murtha, News.comAU, May 18, 2006)
BLITZER: The marines say they’re still investigating. They don’t know what happened yet. The pentagon says the same thing. How do you know what happened?
MURTHA: Wolf, you read the “Time” magazine articles. There are pictures, there are photos. You don’t have to talk to the military about the proof.
(Murtha, on CNN/Wolf Blitzer, May 19, 2006… transcript)
For articles and videos on the Haditha Marines, go here.
Murtha can visit Walter Reed Hospital as many times as he likes. He can vote for more money for vets. He can crow about his past service. He can say that he supports the troops.
He’s a liar. And a traitor to this country and it’s military.
