Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today after the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees each approved a bill to amend the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA):
“The Intelligence and Judiciary Committees have approved a bill to restore constitutional checks and balances (read: no way we’re going to let you do anything.) to the way electronic surveillance is used to gather intelligence. The RESTORE Act gives the government all the tools necessary to acquire under the law the intelligence that can keep our country safe. (Except the ones you all don’t like.)
“At the same time, the bill protects the privacy of Americans by putting the FISA court back in business and assuring strong oversight of surveillance activities by Congress. The two committees also reaffirmed Congress’ constitutional role by refusing to consider granting retroactive immunity to companies that participated in the President’s warrantless surveillance programs until the Administration has provided Congress with full information about those programs. (Hell, I wouldn’t give you all my dogs’ rabies vaccine number…)
“We can and must protect and defend the Constitution as we protect and defend the American people.” (How? By making it near impossible for our Intelligence guys to act on the intelligence??? Oh, that’s a good one!)

“We have drained the swamp,” Pelosi said. “We have passed historic legislation.” (oh, I wouldn’t say that. You, Murtha, Jefferson, Kerry, Kennedy, Waters, Woolsey, Reid and Durbin to name just a few, are still holding seats. And what “historic legislation”? Keeping funds for our troops hostage for your political agenda? It’s ‘historic’ all right ~ never has there been so much use of the troops as pawns so blatantly while this country is at war.)
“It is not just the opinion of the base of the Democratic Party that this war should end, it’s the opinion of the American people, largely across-the-board,” Pelosi said. (Keep saying that and clap your hands 3 times and think happy thoughts) “Democrats, Independents, and a reasonable chunk of the Republican Party as well. They want the war to end. They don’t want to hear about 60 votes in the Senate-‘Just do it!’ ” (you know who really wants the war to end, Nancy? Try the soldiers over there fighting it. It’s just that they don’t want it to end in defeat ~ again. It goes against everything they stand for, which is something you apparently have no clue about. They’re so much better than that.)
“We have to make responsible decisions in the Congress that are not driven by the dissatisfaction of anybody who wants the war to end tomorrow,” Pelosi said. “God bless them for their passion on this issue. I believe that mostly they are right. But I do believe that we are responsible for the responsible, safe redeployment (read “defeated”) of our troops out of Iraq, and that is what we will continue to fight for.” (if only you would use all that energy to fight for our country!)
Pelosi then launched into a surprisingly personal description of the protesters camped outside her house: “I’ve had, for four or five months, people sitting outside my home, going into my garden in San Francisco, angering my neighbors, hanging their clothes from the trees, building all kinds of things-Buddhas, I don’t know what they are (What this? You’re not in touch with your ‘Buddha within’?? No wonder you’re having such a hard time with your base.) -couches, sofas, permanent living facilities on my front sidewalk. (Just imagine what their homes look like…) You can imagine my neighbors’ reaction to all of this. And if they were poor and they were sleeping on my sidewalk, they would be arrested for loitering. (hmmm, maybe in your neighborhood…not necessarily anyone else’s) But because they have ‘Impeach Bush’ across their chest, it’s the First Amendment, four or five months into that. So I’m well aware of the unhappiness of the base.” (smack-down! But hey, she understands…)
Read this from one of the very upset with Nancy anti-war folks.
Of course she does. It offends so many of her base. And God knows, she doesn’t want all those atheists cluttering up her lawn. It might intrude on all her praying for President Bush to come to his senses and see things her way…
And I thought democrats hated corporations. Don’t they??
I’m so confused…
But I just love this:
If I die before you wake…
Back home now I know you’re probably sleepin’
Over here it’s the middle of the day
I finally found the time to write a letter
Sittin’ here a half a world away
I heard about all them folks protestin’
As if I really want this war
But that don’t stop me from believin’
There’s just some things worth fightin’ for
And if I die before you wake,
I pray the world will take
A good look at what God’s given us
That we could only understand,
everything is in his hands
All we need is a little faith and trust
I want you to know it ain’t too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake
Tell everybody that I miss them
And I can’t wait to get back home
But until then I’ll serve my country
And be proud to wear this uniform
No it ain’t too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake

I received this in an email from Brat at Tanker Brothers.
Now watch this:
I just found out that my daughter is going to reenlist in the Army. That will mean 3 more years of active duty. Being that she is in the Veterinary Corps, there’s less chance of her being deployed to the Middle East. But as those of you who have family members in the military know, things can change in an instant. So I live with the gnawing in my gut of potential deployment. I am fortunate that it’s just that so far. I’ve talked to many parents not so fortunate but who live 24/7 with the reality of their children in combat, many for multiple deployments. Most all of whom I’ve talked to handle it with grace and courage. They understand that their child is a Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman, voluntarily so. They understand what that means.
But that does not mean it’s easy, in any way, shape or form.
Cavmom has an exceptional and very personal post up that answers the question she gets from many first deployment parents:
Everyone should read it, not just military parents. Your neighbor might just be one such parent. Or the clerk at your grocery store. Your mailperson. Your car mechanic. Your doctor. Your insurance agent. Your child’s teacher.
The non-military folks in this country are so detached from our military at this time, that most don’t have a clue as to what having a child in the military during wartime means.
As one soldier wrote on a wooden board:
“We’re at war. America is at the mall”.
It would behoove everyone to know that there are parents sitting up at night in the kitchen wondering if their child is in harm’s way – after all, they haven’t heard from him or her in a couple of weeks. (Military parents’ mantra is “No news is good news”.) There are parents sleeping with their cellphone under their pillow. Parents who every day, check their driveway for an official looking car as they come up their street after work. Parents who put on that smile in public even though they just heard on the radio that another US soldier has been killed, not knowing if it’s their soldier. They go to school functions for their other kids. They go to church on Sunday. They do the grocery shopping, pay the bills, send off care packages, and hold conversations with people who are totally insensitive and blast them with their political views.
So please read Cavmom’s post and send it on to as many people as you know. She’s been through it more than once.
Then when you notice a military decal on a car, a Blue star banner in a window, a military flag in their front yard, say a prayer, not only for the soldier but also for his or her loved ones here at home who wait and pray 24/7.
And help them keep laughing.
Our kids are.
This will not do!!
The Democratic governor of Virginia, Timothy M. Kaine, has appointed Dr. Esam Omeish to the Virginia Commission on Immigration: Valley delegate challenges Kaine appointee to immigration panel.
Esam Omeish is a name LGF readers may recognize; he’s the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood’s primary front group in the United States, the Muslim American Society.
A local delegate has asked Democratic Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to re-think his appointment of the head of the Virginia-based Muslim American Society to the Virginia Commission on Immigration.
Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Woodstock, wrote to Kaine earlier today, saying he was concerned about the appointment of Dr. Esam S. Omeish, a Northern Virginia physician and the group’s president, to the panel. The commission was created earlier this year to study the impact of illegal immigration on the commonwealth.
The Muslim American Society has significant ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, a group founded in Egypt, Gilbert said. “It is unfortunate that the Governor would choose the leader of an organization such as this to represent many the freedom-loving Muslim citizens of Virginia on this important commission,” Gilbert said.
“While the Muslim American Society claims to be the innocent face of peaceful Islam in America, their history and teachings tell a much different story. Unfortunately, it is a story about which all Americans have become much too familiar — that of the promotion of a global Islamic state. The questionable origin and teachings of this group should give the Governor some serious concerns about his recent appointment. Even though this organization has a savvy public relations machine, the public face that it projects may disguise some very troubling hidden intentions.”
Here’s Gov. Kaine’s speech on September 11, 2007:
RICHMOND – Governor Timothy M. Kaine released the following statement on today’s sixth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks in Arlington, New York City, and Pennsylvania:
“Today marks the sixth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
“I join all Virginians in honoring those who lost their lives that day, and urge the citizens of the Commonwealth to reflect on the daily service and sacrifice of our first responders, firefighters, police officers, and members of our armed forces
“Let us use this sixth anniversary of 9/11 as a time to set a new priority to commit ourselves to offer service to others. The America that we know, and the Commonwealth that was attacked six years ago, is at its best and shines its brightest when we each give of ourselves in service to others.”
In addition, Governor Kaine has ordered that U.S. and Commonwealth of Virginia flags be flown at half-staff throughout Virginia until sunset today in observance of Patriot Day 2007.
I don’t think he understands what happened 6 years ago…
I just sent him an email. I’ll be interested in his response.
Some things just should not be tolerated!
Yes, we do have an enemy. They are murderers, liars and arrogant haters of anyone not of their thinking. And they are killing anyone who gets in their way.

And our “esteemed” politicians ~ Pelosi, Kucinich, Reid and those on the left who would so love to be our next President, want more talks with these people.

And if you are a woman in Egypt: again, graphic material warning
The media doesn’t tell the whole story about our troops, focusing more on car bombs and trumped up accusations than on the good that is coming about in in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The media doesn’t tell the whole story about those who are bent on destroying us.
Our politicians are more concerned with votes and earmarks than with the threat against this country or the reality on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan. They impune the honor of one of the finest Generals this country has and uses our tax dollars to go have a chat with the heads of terrorist countries.
The anti-mosteverything folks who scream out loudest for the rights of detainees hardly whisper about little girls getting cut up, beaten and sold in marriage.
And too many in this country could care less.
Thank God for the ones who do.

You DO NOT speak for me, nor will you ever!
Stop including me in your declarations that start with “and the American people agree…”
I do not ever want to be included in a sentence that comes out of your mouths.
I don’t question your patriotism. I know you are NOT patriotic.
I also know that you do not support the troops. You can say it all you want, but words are cheap when not backed up by actions. And your actions prove time and time again that you are anything BUT supportive of the troops.
You have taken the privilege of Freedom of Speech and turned it into a cheap and rude playground antic.
I can’t stand you or what you stand for. And I never, ever will.
You did it once before:
(Bosphotoman)You will not succeed in doing it again.
Oh, and by the way ~ the 60’s are long gone.
So this is my answer to all your screeching against our troops, our country’s Constitution and our way of life:
(I wish I had the talent to have done this myself ~ please go to AmericanBattleCry page on YouTube and read the description on this video)
I watched the CSPAN airing of General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker’s hearings on Monday and Tuesday. I have to say with heartfelt sincerity that I have never been more disgusted or ashamed of our Congress as I was watching the dhimmis harrass and all but call General Petraeus a liar. Nevermind the bungling of the microphone set up and the disturbances by Code Pink, etal.
I also have never been more impressed by two gentlemen than I was by General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker. They sat there with poisoned arrows coming at them over and over again and never once flinched. Or were hit. In fact, I would say that by their very bearing during the hours and hours sitting before the House and Senate members, it was never more clear who the real Statesmen were. And it most certainly wasn’t those who are officially known by that title.
You can see and hear the dhimmis’ responses before and after the report by going to Nancy Pelosi’s YouTube page here. (Yes, Pelosi takes YouTube’s”broadcast yourself!” to heart…there 722 videos all together!)
and they have the audacity to call Gen. Petraeus a liar.

A kindhearted patriot. That’s how SSgt. John Self was described by those who knew him. “John was a good boy, a good boy who loved his country and who loved Christ and for that hell move on to a better place,” said Laron Self, Sgt. Self’s grandfather, fighting back tears.
SSgt. Self was killed, and three other airmen wounded, when an IED hit the Humvee they were traveling in while on his 79th patrol in Baghdad, Iraq. “John volunteered for this deployment while he was deployed to (Southwest Asia),” said Chief Master Sgt. Keith Morris, 314th SFS security forces manager. “We discussed this deployment via e-mail. He said he made his decision to deploy again to gain experience.”
“He could always find the humor in anything regardless of the situation,” said Senior Airman Daniel Hunsperger, a member of Self’s fire team. “He believed in everything he did. This was obvious to us after learning he had only spent two weeks home between his last deployment and volunteering for this one.”
On May 23, SSgt. Self was laid to rest with a crowd of hundreds to pay their respects. People lined both sides of the highway for more than 5 miles waving flags as the hundred-car procession traveled to the burial. Shouts of, “We love you John,” and “Thank you, John, could be heard as the train of cars passed by. “Thats a hero,” Susan Chambers, one of the many mourners, said to her son as she pointed at Self’s casket.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died,
We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived
